Jan is a qualified actuary and recruiter with over 30 years of experience in the actuarial world. She has worked with clients and candidates from all actuarial sectors and has particular strength in the life, health and longevity markets. Throughout her career Jan has taken on mentoring and coaching roles and she enjoys bringing these skills to her recruitment work in the form of tailored advice and guidance for both clients and candidates.

Biography

After graduating from Southampton University with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering Jan joined the International Division of Eagle Star as a Life Actuarial Trainee, providing support to international branches on a wide range of projects.

In 1993 Jan moved into the reinsurance sector, joining NRG Victory (later GE Frankona Re) in a Pricing and Product Development role.  Initially supporting international business development, after qualifying as an actuary she moved to manage the UK Pricing Team with responsibility for quotations and actuarial support for a portfolio of UK and offshore insurance clients.  Whilst at GE Frankona Re Jan took an 18-month secondment to their new Quality team, where she was responsible for embedding GE’s Six Sigma process improvement initiative across their reinsurance businesses. 

Jan moved into actuarial recruitment in 2003, joining the new UK office of Acumen Resources where she enjoyed working with clients from all actuarial sectors on assignments from Graduate to Director level.  In December 2014, Jan joined Star Actuarial.  She has enjoyed taking on a broad range of assignments, and particularly developing our presence in the Global Life Reinsurance market.
